Sammy Awuku has resigned as Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), effective January 13, 2025, following his election as the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North.

In a resignation letter addressed to President John Dramani Mahama, Awuku explained that his decision was prompted by his new parliamentary responsibilities. He had served as the NLA’s Director-General since August 2021.

“In light of this new responsibility, I wish to focus my efforts on serving as a Member of Parliament,” Awuku wrote in his letter.

Awuku also requested that a replacement be appointed promptly to ensure a smooth transition and the continued effective functioning of the NLA.
