Kwame Asare-Obeng, known as A Plus and the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, has given the Ghana Police Service a 48-hour deadline to provide an update on the murder investigation of Ahmed Suale, the investigative journalist killed in January 2019. Suale, a key member of Anas Aremeyaw Anas’s Tiger Eye PI team, was shot and killed in Madina, Accra, an event that has remained unresolved for nearly six years.

In a Facebook post on January 14, A Plus expressed growing frustration over the lack of progress in the investigation, demanding transparency from law enforcement. He warned that if no update is provided within the stipulated time frame, he would use his position in Parliament to summon the Ghana Police Service to brief lawmakers on the status of the case.

“If no update is provided within 48 hours, I will formally summon the Ghana Police Service to brief Parliament on this case,” A Plus stated in his post.

The investigation into Suale’s murder has drawn widespread public attention due to its high profile and the ongoing calls for justice. Despite the time that has passed, the case has made little visible progress, with the perpetrators still at large. A Plus further expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of updates from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), urging its director to inform the public on the status of the inquiry.

In 2024, A Plus claimed that he had provided significant information to the CID, including identifying a former government minister he alleges contracted the assassins. He warned that, should the police fail to make significant headway, he would disclose further details, including the name of the alleged perpetrator, through social media platforms.

“Should that fail, I will utilise my Facebook and other social media platforms to update the nation on what I know about the matter, which will include the name of the alleged perpetrator,” he said.

The case continues to be a significant point of contention, as many seek accountability for Suale’s death and question the police’s handling of the investigation.
