The Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) is embracing the changing landscape of gospel music by introducing a new category, Best Urban/Contemporary Gospel Song.

This category will honor gospel songs that fuse traditional gospel with contemporary genres like R&B, hip-hop, and pop—celebrating the creativity and evolution of the genre.

To qualify, songs must meet a few key criteria:

Commercial release within the award year

Widespread popularity and public excitement

Performed by a gospel artist

The winner will be chosen through a combination of votes from the TGMA Academy, the Board, and the public.

The announcement, made on January 18, 2025, via TGMA’s official social media channels, has sparked anticipation as entries for the 26th edition of the awards open soon.
