Nigerian actress Ini Edo has opened up about her battle with infertility, revealing she turned to surrogacy after facing years of unsuccessful attempts to conceive.

In a candid interview on the third season of the reality TV series Young, Famous & African, the 42-year-old actress reflected on her fertility challenges and how they shaped her life. Edo, who married at the age of 26 with plans to have children by 31, found her path to motherhood disrupted by persistent fertility issues.

“My journey is one that I have not really been wanting to talk about because it is personal,” Edo said. “I went through surrogacy. I never thought I would be someone who would have fertility issues.”

Despite difficulties carrying pregnancies to term, Edo remained committed to becoming a mother. In 2021, she opted for surrogacy, a decision she initially hesitated to make public.

Edo’s previous marriage to US-based businessman Philip Ehiagwina in 2008 ended in divorce in 2014. Through her candid account, the actress brings attention to the personal and often private nature of fertility struggles, offering a rare glimpse into her journey to motherhood.
