John Kwadwo Gyapong, the Minister-Designate for the Oti Region, has vowed to establish processing factories to enhance agricultural development in the region, focusing on key crops such as cassava, ginger, and yam.

Speaking during his appearance before Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Gyapong highlighted the region’s rich agricultural potential but lamented the lack of large-scale processing facilities to add value to these crops and boost the local economy.

“Oti Region is blessed with fertile land. We produce cocoa, ginger, cassava, and yam, but we lack the industries to process these products,” Gyapong said. “Once confirmed, I plan to engage with stakeholders and industry players to establish processing factories in these sectors.”

He expressed confidence that the initiative would not only drive economic growth but also create job opportunities for the youth in the region.

“I’m very optimistic about this. It will stimulate the region’s economy and provide much-needed employment for young people,” he added.
