President John Dramani Mahama has extended the curfew in Saboba Township, located in the Northern Region, following ongoing security challenges. The Interior Ministry confirmed the move in a statement issued on January 15, 2025.

The renewed curfew will be in effect from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM, starting immediately. The government has called on local leaders, including Chiefs, Elders, and Youth, to exercise restraint and work toward peaceful solutions to the region’s issues.

The statement also outlined a total ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or offensive weapons within Saboba and its surrounding areas. Individuals found in possession of such items will be subject to arrest and prosecution, the government warned. Authorities are urging the community to pursue non-violent avenues for addressing local tensions.
