The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee has reported receiving a total of 2,417 complaints from individuals and civil society organizations, underscoring the public’s demand for accountability in the management of public resources. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Chairman of the ORAL Committee, shared these figures on Monday, February 10, during the presentation of the team’s final report to President John Dramani Mahama.
The committee’s efforts, launched as part of a broader initiative to combat corruption and recover misappropriated funds, have engaged the public through multiple channels. Of the total complaints, 1,493 were received via a toll-free hotline, while 924 were submitted through emails. Ablakwa noted that all calls were automatically recorded, and emails have been preserved for verification.
Ablakwa emphasized the significance of the ORAL Committee, suggesting that without President Mahama’s timely intervention, many petitioners might have had no recourse for their grievances. “For those who doubted the importance of the President’s initiative, this is the evidence,” he remarked. “Where would these 2,417 people have gone if the ORAL Committee had not been established?”
The committee’s work remains a cornerstone of ongoing anti-corruption efforts in the country, providing a structured mechanism for public complaints and the recovery of illicitly diverted public funds.
