Ali Adolf G. John, Ghana’s Northern Region Minister-Designate, has committed to addressing the ongoing issue of alleged witches who face abuse and ostracism in certain communities.

During his vetting on Thursday, January 23, Adolf expressed grave concern over the mistreatment of accused individuals, particularly elderly women, who often suffer public humiliation, banishment, and physical harm.

He vowed to work closely with traditional leaders to protect these individuals and support their reintegration into society.

Describing some of the reported cases as “horrific,” Adolf emphasized the need for collective action to uphold the dignity and safety of all, calling for the active involvement of traditional rulers in resolving the issue.

“Many elderly individuals are accused of witchcraft, and the footage of their treatment is disturbing. I will work closely with traditional leaders to address this issue and help reintegrate these individuals back into society,” he said.
