In the wake of a tragic explosion in Odumase, near Konongo, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has stepped forward to offer immediate support to the victims. Each affected household has received a donation of GHC 5,000 following the devastating blast that claimed three lives and left many others injured.

The explosion, which occurred at a local shop dealing in dynamite and explosives used by miners, caused widespread destruction and triggered a massive fire.

While authorities confirmed that the death toll currently stands at three, several injured victims, including firefighters, have received treatment and been discharged. However, five individuals remain in hospital, with two in critical condition. Medical officials are considering referring these patients to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for specialized care.

During a visit to the site on March 6, Dr. Amoakohene reassured the public that a full investigation is underway, emphasizing that those responsible for the illegal sale of explosives will face justice.

The minister’s donation and commitment to ensuring accountability have offered some comfort to the affected community in the aftermath of the disaster.
