Artiste manager Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, known as Bullgod, has revealed that dancehall artist Shatta Wale has yet to fulfil commitments made following a defamation suit he filed against him.

In an interview  on Accra FM on 19 February 2025, Bullgod provided updates on the ongoing legal dispute, explaining that after the lawsuit was filed, Shatta Wale, accompanied by a few high-profile celebrities, approached him with an offer to settle the matter out of court. The terms of the settlement included a public apology from Shatta Wale and compensation for legal fees.

However, Bullgod stated that despite a private apology from Shatta Wale, the musician has not yet issued a public apology or paid the legal fees as agreed in the settlement.

“I sued him for GH¢1 million for defamation of character. For me, it wasn’t even about the money; it was about setting things right,” Bullgod said. “We reached a consent judgment where he was supposed to cover my legal fees and issue a public apology, but he hasn’t done that.”

The case has now returned to court, where the judge will direct Shatta Wale to comply with the terms of the agreement.

Reflecting on the impact of the allegations on his career and personal well-being, Bullgod acknowledged the toll the situation had taken but also saw it as part of his personal growth.

“It haunted me for some years. It weighed on my mind, but I have since moved on. I see it as a sign from God. Sometimes, we don’t understand God’s ways, but I am certain that this situation has played a role in shaping where I am today,” he said.

The legal dispute began in November 2022, when Shatta Wale publicly accused Bullgod of being involved in the murder of Fennec Okyere, the late manager of musician Kwaw Kese. Bullgod’s legal team filed a defamation lawsuit in the Accra High Court, arguing that Shatta Wale’s remarks were not only damaging but also inappropriate given that the case was still under investigation.

As part of the lawsuit, Bullgod sought a court declaration that Shatta Wale’s statements were defamatory and malicious. However, recent reports indicate that Shatta Wale was expected to compensate Bullgod and issue a formal apology, neither of which have been fulfilled.
