In an emotional testimony, former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Dapaah, has accused her domestic workers of stealing substantial sums of money and precious items from her storage room over an extended period.
Appearing in court for the first time since the trial began, Dapaah revealed to the Accra High Court that the accused workers made off with a staggering $410,000, €300,000, and GHS350,000 (about $30,000), in addition to jewelry valued at $53,000. These thefts allegedly occurred over an unspecified period, leaving Dapaah devastated by the loss of her personal belongings.
The former minister expressed deep distress as she recounted how these items, some acquired over the span of three decades, held significant sentimental value. Dapaah accused her two former female housekeepers of stealing the money and valuables from her Accra home, including her husband’s clothing.
This marks the first time Dapaah has taken the stand in the ongoing case, which has captured public attention since it began in 2023.
