The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has ended its strike, which began on 7 November, following a court order instructing the union to halt its action.

The strike was called off on Monday, 11 November, after the National Labour Commission (NLC) obtained an ex-parte injunction from a High Court, which prohibited CLOGSAG members from continuing the industrial action.

In a statement, CLOGSAG said it was abiding by the court’s order out of respect for the law. “CLOGSAG has decided to call off the strike due to its utmost respect for the Court and the laws of Ghana,” the statement read. It added that all members were expected to return to work immediately.

The union had launched the strike to protest delays by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) in finalising a revised salary structure. In a statement dated 22 October, CLOGSAG had warned it would proceed with industrial action if the commission missed its 31 October deadline to conclude negotiations.

Despite calling off the strike, CLOGSAG reassured its members that it remains committed to advocating for improved conditions of service for public sector workers.
