Dr. Nii Moi Thompson Appointed Chairman of Ghana’s National Development Planning Commission

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Nii Moi Thompson as the new Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), pending consultations with the Council of State.

A respected development economist, Dr. Thompson brings extensive experience to the role. He previously served as the Director-General of the NDPC, where he played a pivotal role in drafting Ghana’s 40-Year Development Plan. Additionally, Dr. Thompson was instrumental in aligning Ghana’s national development strategy with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during his tenure from 2014 to 2015.

In his new capacity, Dr. Thompson will work closely with key figures such as the Minister for Finance, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, and the Government Statistician to provide strategic guidance on Ghana’s long-term development trajectory.
