Journalists Granted Full Access to Collation Centres

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability in the upcoming 2024 general elections by allowing journalists unrestricted access to Constituency and Regional Collation Centres.

In a press release dated December 2, 2024, the EC announced the reversal of its earlier decision to limit media access. Media personnel with photo accreditation cards issued by the EC can now cover Polling Stations, Constituency, and Regional Collation Centres seamlessly during the December 7 elections.

“The revised media accreditation aims to provide media personnel with greater flexibility and access to key Election Centres,” said Benjamin Bano-Bio, Director of Electoral Services. He emphasized that the decision underscores the EC’s dedication to fostering transparency in the electoral process.

This adjustment followed internal discussions and consultations with key media stakeholders, ensuring effective election coverage and reinforcing public trust in the process.
