EC Pledges to Finalise Ablekuma North Results After Returning Officer Resigns

The Electoral Commission (EC) has reassured the public that the collation of parliamentary results for Ablekuma North will be completed, following the resignation of the constituency’s Returning Officer, Vincent Obeng.

On January 8, 2025, Mr Obeng announced his resignation, citing frustrations over the challenges encountered during the collation process. In a statement to the media, he confirmed that results from four out of seven polling stations had been successfully processed, but issues arose with the remaining three.

Mr Obeng explained that delays were caused by presiding officers’ failure to authenticate essential election documents. “I’m done with Ablekuma North. The EC should appoint someone else to complete the process,” he said in his resignation statement.

Despite the setback, the EC has assured that the collation will continue and that efforts will be made to resolve the issues swiftly.
