The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG) has issued an urgent advisory to customers using Nuri prepayment meters to purchase sufficient credit to avoid service disruptions during a planned system upgrade.

The upgrade, announced on Saturday, 23 November, is part of the Standard Transfer Specifications (STS) protocol, which seeks to improve the efficiency of the company’s metering and vending systems.

In a statement, ECG advised customers to ensure they have enough top-up credit to last for at least one month as a precaution against potential disruptions.

“Please buy enough top-up credit that will last for at least one month in order not to experience vending disruptions that might arise out of the ongoing Nuri meter upgrading exercise,” the company said.

Customers have been encouraged to reach out to ECG’s call centre or engage with the company on its social media platforms for support with the process.

ECG stressed the importance of the upgrade, describing it as a critical step in maintaining a smooth and reliable service for all customers.
