Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Volta River Authority (VRA), following the departure of Emmanuel Antwi Darkwa. The appointment, made under government directive, comes as the VRA board remains to be reconstituted. Until a new board is established, Obeng-Kenzo will assume leadership in an acting capacity.

A formal handover ceremony took place on February 5, where Darkwa officially transferred leadership to Obeng-Kenzo. The transition marks a significant moment for the VRA as it continues its mission of providing reliable and sustainable energy solutions to Ghana.

Obeng-Kenzo, a seasoned business executive with 24 years of experience in the power sector, brings extensive expertise in engineering, operations, and strategic leadership to the role. He holds a Master’s in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He is also a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineering.

Prior to this appointment, Obeng-Kenzo served as the Deputy Chief Executive for Engineering and Operations, where he was instrumental in shaping the authority’s technical and operational strategies.
