Osei Assibey Antwi, the former Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), was questioned by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) on March 20 in connection with the ongoing investigation into the ghost names scandal.

Accompanied by his lawyer, Mr. Assibey appeared before NIB officials following an invitation to address the fraudulent enlistment of non-existent individuals onto the NSA payroll. The investigation, prompted by a report from The Fourth Estate, has revealed significant irregularities within the scheme, sparking concerns about financial mismanagement.

Sources suggest that Assibey was questioned for several hours, although it remains unclear whether he was released following the session. The NIB’s probe into the scandal has already led to the questioning of two former NSA Deputy Directors, Gifty Oware Mensah and Kwaku Ohene Djan, regarding their involvement in the alleged fraud.

The scandal has raised alarm over the lack of oversight in the National Service scheme, with stakeholders calling for swift government action to address the issue and restore public trust in the program.
