Ghana Airports Company Ltd. (GACL) said it plans to present evidence in court, including post-dated cheques and bank records, as part of an ongoing legal dispute with McDan Aviation Handling Services Ltd. following the termination of the company’s contract at Accra’s main international airport.

The airport operator said the evidence will include post-dated cheques allegedly issued by McDan Aviation that could not be processed due to insufficient funds. GACL also plans to submit demand notices and contractual provisions outlining termination clauses.

In a statement, the company said it would address the matter through the judicial process rather than in public debate.

“GACL respects the judicial processes and therefore will not litigate the issues in the media space,” the statement said, adding that all records relating to non-payment, along with the relevant contract provisions, would be presented before the court.

GACL terminated its contract with McDan Aviation on Jan. 16, 2026, after what it described as months of unpaid rent, royalties and license fees related to the company’s fixed-base operation services at Kotoka International Airport.

According to the airport authority, McDan Aviation had outstanding payments covering the entire 2025 period at the time of the termination, as well as $16,000 in rejected banknotes linked to a 2024 payment.

GACL said a payment made by McDan Aviation in February 2026 occurred after the contract had already been terminated and the facility closed. The airport operator added that the payment covered only about half of the outstanding debt, leaving additional arrears unpaid.

The authority also alleged that license fees required to operate a private jet handling service had not been paid for four years, from 2022 through 2026.

The dispute remains before the courts.
