The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for a group of individuals seen in a viral video threatening violence ahead of the 2024 General Elections. The group, identifying themselves as the “NDC Youth of Obuasi,” made inflammatory statements that authorities warn could incite unrest.

In a statement issued today, the police labeled the group’s actions as “offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace,” a violation of Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

A coordinated police operation is currently underway to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice. The law enforcement body has reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and order as the nation prepares for a crucial election year.

Authorities are urging the public to remain calm and report any information that could aid in the swift arrest of the individuals involved.
