The government of Ghana is set to commission over 80 educational projects on Thursday, November 21, 2024, in a nationwide initiative aimed at enhancing access to quality education.

The projects, spanning all 16 regions, will provide modern facilities designed to address the diverse needs of students, ranging from basic education to senior high schools and technical institutions.

In a statement, the Ministry of Education announced that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would lead the commissioning ceremonies. Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum will also officiate events, which will take place simultaneously at regional and district levels.

The projects include STEM-focused schools, E-block facilities, and kindergarten blocks to bolster early childhood education. Among the notable projects are the Kpasenkpe Model STEM Senior High School in the West Mamprusi District, the Accra STEM Academy in La-Nkwantanang-Madina, and the Awaso Model STEM SHS in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai.

Basic education facilities will also see significant improvements, such as a 12-unit classroom block at Salem D/A Basic School in Atwima Mponua and two-unit kindergarten blocks in Assin South.

In the Ashanti Region, key projects include the Bosomtwe Model STEM Junior High School, featuring a four-story, 11-classroom block, and a six-unit classroom block for Wesley Girls Demonstration School in Kumasi Metro.

The Northern Region will see the commissioning of an 18-unit classroom block at the Sagnarigu Tamale Business School, while the Volta Region will benefit from upgraded facilities at Kodzobi Ando Basic School in Adaklu, complete with modern sanitation.

The initiative also focuses on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), with institutions such as the Anyinam TVET-Applied Technical and Fashion School and the Akomadan TVET-Applied Technical School providing practical skills training for students.

The Ministry of Education described the projects as a testament to the government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure and ensuring that every child in Ghana has access to a conducive learning environment.

Ghanaians are encouraged to participate in the landmark event, either by attending the ceremonies or following live broadcasts on television and social media.
