Today, the spotlight falls on three prestigious Ghanaian schools—Mfantsipim School, Keta Senior High Technical School, and St Augustine’s College—as they face off in the grand finale of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) in Cape Coast.

The stage is set for an intense competition as these top teams compete for the coveted NSMQ trophy and national bragging rights. Each team has fought through numerous rounds, overcoming formidable opponents, to reach this decisive moment.

Keta Senior High Technical School, a rising force in recent years, enters the final with renewed determination. Last year, Keta impressed viewers by defeating St Augustine’s and Tamale Senior High to reach the semi-finals, and they made their first NSMQ final appearance in 2021. This year, their team—consisting of Perpetual Sefakor Gakpetor, Clinton Edem Adorsoo, and Frederick Adjavor Sowalo—has reached the finale after defeating powerhouse Achimota School. Keta is hoping to make history by taking the NSMQ title for the first time.

St Augustine’s College, however, stands as a formidable opponent. The college, with a winning record in the NSMQ, last claimed victory in 2019. Known for never leaving a final without a win, St Augustine’s has its sights firmly set on reclaiming the trophy. Their road to the finale has seen them triumph over notable schools like Wesley Girls, Ghana National College, Bishop Herman, and St Hubert Seminary.

Mfantsipim School, another of Ghana’s elite educational institutions, rounds out the trio, bringing experience and a hunger for victory to the competition.

This year’s NSMQ finale promises to be a closely contested battle of wit, speed, and scientific precision. Fans of the contest eagerly await the outcome, knowing that only one school will emerge victorious, earning the title of 2024 NSMQ champions.
