Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described the new Bank of Ghana (BoG) headquarters, known as The Bank Square, as a symbol of the country’s commitment to modernising its institutions to keep pace with global changes.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony in Accra on Wednesday, 20 November, President Akufo-Addo hailed the state-of-the-art facility as a reflection of the central bank’s progress and continued relevance.
“This impressive structure is a testament to the Bank of Ghana’s vision, maturity, and enduring significance. It mirrors Ghana’s determination to modernise its institutions to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world,” the president said.
Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, also addressing the event, commended the president’s leadership in strengthening Ghana’s economy. He noted that key economic indicators have shown significant improvement under President Akufo-Addo’s administration.
“Mr President, you have steered this economy to greater strength. Growth has surpassed targets, and banks are reporting impressive performances,” he stated.
Dr Adam further highlighted the benefits of the new headquarters, emphasising its potential to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the central bank’s operations.
The modern facility is expected to provide a conducive work environment for BoG staff as the institution continues to execute its mandate in a rapidly evolving financial landscape.
