Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo has unveiled a statue of himself at the entrance of Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, part of a one-day “thank you” tour in the Western Region.
The statue’s unveiling on Wednesday, November 6, came as President Akufo-Addo highlighted achievements under his administration, saying he had fulfilled 80% of his promises to Ghanaians.

Addressing local residents, he urged voters to back his party’s candidate, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the December 7 election, suggesting this would ensure continuity of his government’s policies.
During the event, Akufo-Addo highlighted the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy as a defining achievement of his presidency, emphasising its transformative effects across Ghana.
The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, praised the statue as a tribute to Akufo-Addo’s contributions to the region. He pointed to key development projects, including the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital rehabilitation, the three-tier Sinohydro interchange, and the redevelopment of the Takoradi Market Circle as hallmarks of the president’s legacy.
