The Ministry of Education has allocated an additional GHS25 million to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to expedite the marking process and ensure the timely release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.

The move follows reports of delays in the marking process, which WAEC attributed to financial constraints. The Ministry of Education expressed its commitment to supporting the smooth operation of the examination process through the additional funding.

Kwasi Kwarteng, spokesperson for the Ministry, said, “The Ministry of Education recognises the importance of timely WASSCE results for students, parents, and educational institutions. This additional funding will help WAEC continue its marking activities without further delay.”

In response, WAEC confirmed receipt of the funding and assured the Ministry that the 2024 results would be released soon, though no specific date has been set. Both the Ministry and WAEC have pledged to ensure an efficient and swift process moving forward.
