The government will hold discussions with the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) today, January 13, 2025, to address food shortages affecting some Senior High Schools (SHS) in Ghana.

Clement Apaak, Member of Parliament for Builsa South, confirmed the meeting, acknowledging the difficulties schools are facing in securing adequate food supplies for students. CHASS has urged parents to provide additional food for their children amid these shortages.

Apaak told Citi News that the John Dramani Mahama-led government is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it. He stated that while the situation is a result of challenges inherited from the previous administration, the current government is committed to improving and sustaining the Free Senior High School programme.

He added that the Chief of Staff will meet with CHASS leadership, and efforts are underway to collaborate with the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service to address the problem as quickly as possible.
