Ibrahim Mahama, the CEO of Engineers & Planners Ltd and Dzata Cement, has provided financial assistance for Ghanaian journalist Kofi Adomah’s eye surgery in Dubai, following a significant health setback for Adomah.
The intervention was publicly revealed by broadcaster Nana Yaa Brefo during the Yen Nsempa Morning Show on Onua FM on January 22. Brefo explained that Mahama responded swiftly after she informed him of Adomah’s condition, which had deteriorated after being shot in the eye. The businessman immediately instructed that arrangements be made for the surgery in Dubai.
Brefo recalled Mahama’s reassurance, saying, “Yaa, do not worry. Tell them to move to Dubai today,” emphasizing his prompt commitment to assisting Adomah in his time of need.
Adomah’s vision had been severely compromised following the shooting, and Brefo detailed the emotional toll it had taken on him, noting his fear of losing his remaining sight. “Somebody who had two eyes and was working, and suddenly things changed,” she said. “The man was shivering and crying with fear, asking himself, ‘So I’m going to go blind?’”
Mahama’s support follows his previous philanthropic efforts, including his financial assistance for 13-year-old Rosemond Boadu, who required a $25,000 kidney transplant. Mahama covered the cost of the procedure, ensuring the child received the necessary medical treatment.
Brefo praised Mahama’s timely assistance and expressed admiration for his generosity, noting, “I will continue to bless the man Ibrahim Mahama. God bless him.” She also voiced strong support for Mahama’s potential leadership, stating that she would back him if he ever chose to run for president.
Mahama’s recent actions underscore his ongoing commitment to philanthropy and his impact on both individual lives and the wider community.
