Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, has pledged to fully dedicate himself to his role if confirmed for a second term in the Ninth Parliament. His commitment comes after President-elect John Dramani Mahama directed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Leadership to nominate Bagbin for the position.

Mahama described Bagbin as an experienced leader, expressing confidence that his leadership would be crucial in addressing the challenges facing the legislative branch.

In response to the nomination, Bagbin expressed his deep gratitude, acknowledging the trust placed in him by the President-elect, NDC leadership, and parliamentary executives. “I am humbled by His Excellency’s confidence in my ability to lead as we begin a new chapter in Ghana’s democratic journey,” Bagbin said.

Reflecting on his long service to the country, Bagbin reaffirmed his commitment to justice, fairness, and the rule of law. As Speaker, he vowed to ensure Parliament operates with integrity, transparency, and inclusivity.

“I will, more than before, rededicate myself fully to the task ahead, working to strengthen our democratic institutions and make Parliament more responsive to the people’s needs,” Bagbin added.

The Speaker also thanked the NDC National Executives and Parliamentary Leadership for granting him the opportunity to serve another term in office.
