President John Dramani Mahama has appointed actor James Gardiner as the new Deputy Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA). Gardiner will assist Executive Secretary Juliet Asante in overseeing the development and promotion of Ghana’s film industry.

Following the announcement, Mr.Gardiner received congratulatory messages from fellow actors on social media, with actress Kafui Danku writing, “Super congratulations on your appointment @jamesgardinergh” on Facebook, and Roselyn Ngissah posting, “Congratulations my brother @jamesgardinergh on your appointment by President as Deputy Executive Secretary of the NFA” on Instagram.

In his new role, Mr. Gardiner is expected to work alongside Juliet Asante to foster collaboration among filmmakers, improve the quality of local productions, and attract international recognition to Ghana’s cinematic talents.

Mr. Gardiner expressed his readiness to work with industry stakeholders, telling Graphic Showbiz, “I’m willing and ready to listen to concerns and how best we can work together to lift the industry right where it should be. Just for clarity, I’m serving as the deputy and not the main executive secretary.”

The National Film Authority, a government agency, is responsible for the regulation and development of the Ghanaian film industry, including the distribution and marketing of films.

President Mahama recently appointed Kofi Okyere-Darko (KOD), a prominent media personality and fashion entrepreneur, as Director of Diaspora Affairs.
