President John Dramani Mahama called for more than just policy reforms in his remarks at Ghana’s 68th Independence Day celebration on March 6. Speaking at the Jubilee House, Mahama stressed that while well-crafted policies are essential, they will not be sufficient to transform the country’s economic landscape without concrete action.

“This is a defining moment for Ghana, but policies, no matter how well-intentioned, will not change our reality. Action will,” Mahama asserted. He emphasized the need for bold steps to unlock economic growth and foster national development.

Mahama outlined his administration’s focus on creating opportunities for growth and bolstering the country’s economic independence, underscoring the importance of moving beyond the theoretical to the practical.

In his address, he urged the nation’s youth to take an active role in shaping the country’s future, calling on them to seize the opportunities available to them and help build a self-sufficient economy. “The economic future of Ghana is in your hands,” he said.

The President’s comments reflect a broader commitment to empowering young Ghanaians, fostering innovation, and ensuring that the nation’s hard-won independence leads to tangible, sustainable progress.
