President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono as the Acting Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), a move that brings a seasoned military officer and legal expert to the helm of the country’s critical ports and maritime sector.

Currently serving as the Deputy Commandant at the National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) in Accra, Tanye-Kulono’s appointment is seen as a strategic decision, given his extensive background in military leadership and law. With a Master of Laws (LLM) in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution from George Washington School of Law and other advanced degrees in management and international affairs, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the role.

Tanye-Kulono has undergone elite military training at prestigious institutions, including the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and the U.S. Army Command and Staff College. His experience spans critical roles, from Deputy Director-General of Training at GHQ to significant international peacekeeping missions with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.

With his deep expertise in counterterrorism, strategic defense, and operational training, Tanye-Kulono is poised to bring a fresh perspective to the GPHA, overseeing the strategic direction and future growth of Ghana’s vital ports and harbours.
