President John Dramani Mahama has given a clear directive to Kofi Adams, the newly appointed Minister for Sports and Recreation, to revamp Ghana’s sports landscape and return the Black Stars to their former glory.
During the swearing-in of 17 ministers at Jubilee House on Friday, February 7, Mahama stressed the need for a major transformation in the country’s sports sector, underscoring the importance of professionalism, transparency, and modern management.
“You have a monumental task ahead of you—to restore Ghana’s rightful place in African and world sports,” Mahama told Adams. “The state of our sports today is unacceptable for a country with our history. I expect you to inject transparency, professionalism, and modernity into the sector.”
In his remarks, Mahama urged Adams to focus on strengthening all sports disciplines, with particular attention to reforming the Ghana Football Association (GFA), as part of efforts to bring the Black Stars back to their peak.
The President’s comments signal the government’s renewed commitment to improving Ghana’s sporting image, with hopes that it will fuel national pride and enhance the country’s international standing.
