Mahama Congratulates Black Stars on World Cup Qualification

President John Dramani Mahama has congratulated Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, after they secured a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In a Facebook post on Monday, 13 October, Mr Mahama praised the team’s performance, saying: “Congratulations to the senior national team, the #BlackStars. Another qualification for the World Cup. #ResettingGhana.”

The Black Stars booked their spot at the tournament with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Comoros in Accra on Sunday night.

The win ensures Ghana’s fifth appearance at the World Cup since making their debut in 2006.

The 2026 edition of the tournament will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
