President John Dramani Mahama is in Mali for an official visit, where he met with the country’s Transitional President, Army General Assimi Goita, in Bamako.

The two leaders held a working and friendship meeting, marking the occasion with a warm reception and a display of African solidarity.
The visit began with the performance of both nations’ national anthems, followed by a review of the troops and greetings to members of the diplomatic corps and the Ghanaian community in Mali. The two leaders then moved to the Koulouba Palace, where the formal events of the visit took place.

A key part of the itinerary included a one-on-one discussion between Mahama and Goita, followed by a larger working session with their delegations. According to a press release, the bilateral talks will focus on strengthening relations between the two countries, enhancing security and economic cooperation, and addressing regional issues, particularly those related to the Confederation of Sahel States (AES).

President Mahama is accompanied by Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Ofosu Kwakye. The visit highlights the ongoing diplomatic efforts to foster greater collaboration between Ghana and Mali.
