President John Dramani Mahama has formally sworn in Patience Baffoe-Bonnie as the new Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, signaling a significant leadership shift within the country’s security apparatus.

The appointment of Madam Baffoe-Bonnie is part of a broader restructuring initiative aimed at improving the efficiency of key security institutions, which also includes leadership changes at the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).

However, the swearing-in ceremonies for Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, the acting Chief Fire Officer of the GNFS, and Samuel Basentale Amadu, the acting Comptroller-General of the GIS, have been delayed. President Mahama attributed the postponements to procedural variations in the appointment processes of each service.

The official inductions for Madam Ntow Sarpong and Mr. Amadu are expected once the respective service boards are fully constituted and their appointments are confirmed. The restructuring is aimed at bolstering leadership and operational efficiency within these critical agencies.
