President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghana’s young people to embrace digital transformation, education, and discipline as key factors for success in the modern economy.

Speaking at the 2025 National Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations at Black Star Square on March 31, Mahama emphasised that the country’s youth hold the key to its future prosperity. He called on them to take proactive steps to acquire the necessary skills to thrive in a rapidly changing global economy.

The Eid-ul-Fitr celebration, marking the end of Ramadan, brought together Muslims from across Ghana for prayers, thanksgiving, and reflection.

In his address, Mahama underscored the importance of adapting to the digital age, stressing that the shift toward a digital economy requires young people to develop skills in areas such as coding, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and entrepreneurship to stay competitive both locally and globally.

“To our young people, I say Ghana’s future is in your hands. In this era of digital transformation, economic challenges, and global competition, it is crucial for you to equip yourselves with the skills, knowledge, and discipline needed to succeed,” Mahama said. “You are the ones who will shape the country’s destiny.”

He also urged Muslim youth to balance faith with education, noting that while it is important to be a faithful Muslim, it is equally essential to be an educated one.

The president committed to supporting efforts to create an enabling environment that provides young people with opportunities to succeed, particularly within Muslim communities.
