The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has confirmed that the official X account of President John Dramani Mahama was compromised on March 17, with unauthorized access leading to the promotion of suspicious cryptocurrency-related content.

In a brief statement, the CSA disclosed that President Mahama’s verified account was breached, and posts began circulating fraudulent content about a cryptocurrency project called Solanafrica. The scheme falsely claimed ties to the Solana blockchain, advertising cost-free and seamless payments across Africa.

The breach has raised concerns over the security of social media accounts belonging to high-profile political figures. In response, the CSA assured the public that it is working closely with X, the social media platform, as well as other relevant parties, to address the issue and prevent similar incidents in the future.

The incident highlights ongoing vulnerabilities in securing prominent social media accounts against cyber threats.
