Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, has been confirmed as the winner of the Techiman South parliamentary seat following a court-ordered recount of the results.
The recount, held at the Electoral Commission’s regional office in Accra, saw Korsah secure 46,663 votes, defeating Christopher Bayere Basongti of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who garnered 43,429 votes.
The outcome follows a directive from the High Court in Accra, which mandated the Electoral Commission (EC) to finalise results in several constituencies, including Techiman South, ahead of a deadline of January 6, 2025. This decision came after mandamus applications filed by NPP candidates, seeking clarity and transparency in the completion of collation processes.
In a related development, Charles Forson of the NPP was also declared the winner for the Tema Central constituency after a recount of results from two outstanding polling stations.
Korsah’s victory now firmly establishes him as the representative for Techiman South, highlighting the High Court’s role in safeguarding electoral integrity and ensuring a fair process.
