The Minority Caucus in Parliament has announced it will temporarily withdraw from the Ad-hoc Committee investigating the chaos that disrupted the Appointments Committee’s proceedings on 30 January 2025.

The group cited concerns over the continued chairmanship of Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, accusing him of bias in his handling of the investigation.

While initially cooperating with the inquiry, the Minority later pulled out, formally notifying the committee in a letter and submitting a memorandum to Speaker Alban Bagbin. In the letter, they outlined their concerns and requested the Speaker’s intervention in the matter.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin clarified that the decision was not a refusal to cooperate but a necessary step to ensure fairness and due process. “We trust that the Speaker will address these concerns in a way that upholds the integrity of the Committee’s work and the broader interests of Parliament,” Afenyo-Markin said.

The Minority emphasized that they would wait for the Speaker’s response before taking any further action, stressing that their withdrawal was aimed at maintaining the credibility of the investigation and ensuring impartiality.
