Ahuma Bosco Ocansey, commonly known as Daddy Bosco, the Director of Communications and Special Projects for the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), has announced that the union welcomes all individuals involved in the music value chain.

MUSIGA, established in 1975, is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary in March 2025. The anniversary celebration was officially launched on November 7, 2024, at the Accra Tourism Information Centre.

In an interview on Channel One TV’s program “The Chat,” Daddy Bosco addressed the question of membership, stating, “MUSIGA is for everyone in the music value chain. Musicians alone can’t do it; they need their managers, songwriters, and publicists. If you are involved in any aspect related to music, you qualify to be a member.”

He further clarified the criteria for membership, noting that individuals engaged in music production can join, while those who simply enjoy music may participate as patrons or associates. “If you run a business and want to affiliate with MUSIGA, you can be an associate member,” he explained.

Daddy Bosco cited examples, such as Reagan, a former manager of the late Terry Bonchaka, who is now a music publicist and eligible to join the union.

MUSIGA’s inclusive approach aims to strengthen the music industry in Ghana by recognizing the diverse roles that contribute to its success.
