Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has expressed deep disappointment following the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In a post  shared on Facebook, Okraku described the outcome as a painful blow for the team and the nation, marking a stark contrast to the recent high of securing a place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“From the highest heights of world football on 29th March 2022 to the lowest ebb of AFCON qualifying matches. My heart bleeds,” he wrote.

Acknowledging the frustrations of fans and stakeholders, Okraku admitted that the result fell far short of expectations. “This is not what we wanted or bargained for,” he said, calling for calm and unity as the team seeks a way forward.

Okraku pledged honesty and accountability in addressing the team’s struggles, describing the road to recovery as “bumpy and rough.” However, he remained optimistic about Ghana’s potential to bounce back.

“Our collective efforts and patience will prevail. Ghana, our beloved country, will win,” he said.

The GFA president also assured fans that steps would be taken to rebuild and improve the team, urging supporters to remain hopeful despite the setback.

“We will rise from this temporary setback. It shall be well,” he concluded.

The Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the continental tournament marks a significant disappointment for a team that has long been considered one of Africa’s footballing powerhouses.
