President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has inaugurated the Flower Pot Interchange in Accra, a major transport infrastructure project aimed at easing congestion and boosting connectivity in the city.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Tuesday, 19 November 2024, the President described the new interchange as a “legacy for the future” and a testament to his government’s vision of a modern and inclusive Ghana.

“This is not just an opening of infrastructure; it is the unveiling of a vision for Ghana’s future—a vision of lasting progress, inclusivity, and national pride,” Mr. Akufo-Addo said.

Located along the Spintex Road, the Flower Pot Interchange features a flyover and an underpass, designed to improve north-south traffic flow in one of Accra’s busiest corridors.

The President emphasised that the project is a tangible demonstration of his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.

“Today, with this interchange, we show that our dedication to progress goes beyond words—it is action, built in stone and steel,” he added.

Construction of the interchange began in 2017. The facility is expected to enhance connectivity between the northern and southern parts of the Accra-Tema Motorway, benefiting commuters travelling between East Legon, Madina, Spintex, and Teshie.

The project forms part of broader efforts to modernise Ghana’s transport network, which Mr. Akufo-Addo said is critical to achieving national development goals.
