Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Director of Elections, has alleged that Ghana’s ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) plans to interfere with the 2024 elections during the upcoming special voting session on December 2.

Speaking to supporters in the Ayensuano Constituency’s Otoase community during his tour of Ghana’s Eastern Region, Dr. Boamah highlighted the NDC’s commitment to maintaining transparency in the electoral process. He assured voters that his party would work closely with security agencies to ensure fair monitoring of the vote.

Dr. Boamah called for public vigilance, particularly during the special voting period, which includes security personnel, journalists, and Electoral Commission (EC) officials. “The NPP is set on rigging votes and plans to start with the special voting process on December 2,” he claimed.

The NDC official urged Ghanaian citizens to support security agencies in safeguarding the election’s integrity and emphasized the importance of collective action to prevent alleged electoral malpractice on December 7, the main election day.

Dr. Boamah also outlined his party’s economic vision, promising that under NDC leader John Dramani Mahama, taxes including the E-levy, Emission Tax, Betting Tax, and COVID tax would be abolished. He described the NDC’s plan to shift the national economy from a taxation-based model to one focused on production.
