The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to establish a committee in January 2025 to review the factors behind its defeat in the 2024 general elections.

In a press briefing on December 23, National Chairman Stephen Ntim revealed that the proposed Election Review Committee would engage party stakeholders and the public to identify the reasons for the loss. The committee’s findings are expected to guide reforms aimed at strengthening the party for future challenges.

“We will set up an objective Election Review Committee to conduct a thorough postmortem into the election results,” Ntim said. “The committee will consult stakeholders and the public to examine the circumstances of our defeat.”

He highlighted that one of the key areas the committee will address is the need for potential constitutional amendments and a restructuring of the party’s internal processes, including the methods for electing presidential and parliamentary candidates, as well as party executives.

Ntim expressed his gratitude to party members and supporters for their dedication during the campaign, acknowledging the disappointment felt by many. “Although we did not achieve victory, our commitment to the ideals of a better Ghana remains unwavering,” he said.

Despite the setback, Ntim assured supporters that the party would recover, adding, “These are tough times, but we are a resilient party. We will rise again and continue to work towards a stronger future.”
