A violent clash between supporters of Ghana’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has resulted in one death in the Offinso North Constituency, following a dispute over fertilizer distribution in Akomadan.

The incident occurred after Fred Gyei Asamoah, the newly-elected NPP Member of Parliament for the constituency, had promised to distribute fertilizers to local farmers post-election. The fertilizers had been brought to the area ahead of the polls to be distributed once election results were finalized.

On Monday morning, around 8 a.m., a group of NDC supporters gathered at Akomadan Cocoa Shell, demanding the fertilizers be handed over to farmers. They argued that the distribution should not be politicized.

The disagreement quickly escalated into violence, resulting in the death of one person, believed to be an NDC supporter. Authorities are currently investigating the incident as tensions remain high in the constituency.
