Investigators from Ghana’s Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) have begun questioning witnesses over an alleged food distribution incident involving Lydia Alhassan, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon.

The incumbent MP was seen handing out food packs to voters at the Legon Police Station polling station during voting. Some Electoral Commission officials and security personnel overseeing the process were also reported to have received the food packs.

The incident has sparked controversy, with opposition figures, including the National Democratic Congress’ Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency, actor John Dumelo, expressing concern. The NDC has raised questions over the timing and fairness of the distribution, as Lydia Alhassan led the distribution effort.
