The Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Ernest Addison, has expressed optimism that the newly unveiled headquarters of the Central Bank will significantly boost its operational efficiency and reinforce Ghana’s leadership in Africa’s financial sector.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, November 20, Dr. Addison highlighted the critical role the new facility will play in streamlining the bank’s functions and strengthening the country’s financial system.
He explained that consolidating the bank’s multiple offices across Accra into one centralised location is a strategic move aimed at enhancing coordination, communication, and cost-effectiveness. This centralisation, he noted, aligns with the bank’s broader modernisation efforts to position it as a forward-looking institution capable of adapting to the ever-evolving global financial landscape.
“The Bank of Ghana currently operates from multiple offices across Accra. With this new headquarters, we can bring all these units under one roof. This consolidation will allow us to streamline our operations, improve communication, reduce costs, and foster synergies that enhance efficiency,” Dr. Addison stated.
He further emphasised that the headquarters, designed with a focus on the future, is a significant modern civic landmark for both the city of Accra and the nation as a whole. The facility, he added, will serve as a symbol of Ghana’s identity as a leading player in Africa’s financial ecosystem.
The $250 million project features three main structures: the Tower, Urban, and Amenities Blocks, which include basements, podiums, and other supporting facilities.
