A powerful storm, including heavy rain and strong winds, has caused significant damage at the ANC Mall in East Legon, Accra, after its car park shed collapsed on Tuesday evening.

Footage shared widely on social media shows the roof of the car park being torn away by the force of the wind, trapping more than 50 vehicles beneath the wreckage.

In addition to the structural damage, several trees within the car park were also uprooted, further damaging the cars parked underneath. The incident has resulted in substantial losses for both vehicle owners and the mall.
