Parliament has approved Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as Minister-Designate for Lands and Natural Resources, along with three regional ministers-designate, following deliberations on their nominations.

The approval, granted on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, allows the nominees to officially assume their respective roles. The newly approved regional ministers-designate are:

Tia Ibrahim – North East Region

Dr. Frank Amoakohene – Ashanti Region

Akamugri Atanga Donatus – Upper East Region

The approval followed a thorough vetting process where members of Parliament assessed the nominees’ qualifications, experience, and suitability for the positions.

The newly appointed ministers are expected to lead development initiatives in their regions, working closely with local authorities to implement government policies and promote socio-economic progress.

However, the Minority in Parliament strongly opposed the approval of Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as Minister-Designate for Lands and Natural Resources, citing his refusal to retract or apologise for remarks he made about former President Akufo-Addo during his final State of the Nation Address on January 3, 2025.

Armah-Kofi Buah acknowledged that his comments were widely seen as harsh but insisted they were not intended to offend Akufo-Addo, reflecting the political context at the time. Despite this explanation, he declined to offer a retraction or apology, leading to the Minority’s opposition.
