In a move that marks a shift in leadership, Professor Ransford Edward Van Gyampo has been appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA) by the John Dramani Mahama-led government.

Gyampo, a respected professor of political science at the University of Ghana, takes over the position from Kwesi Baffour Sarpong, who was appointed by the Akufo-Addo administration in December 2023. Sarpong is expected to hand over responsibilities to Gyampo immediately.

Born on March 31, 1977, in Accra, Gyampo brings two decades of academic experience to the role, including his leadership as the Founding Director of the Centre for European Studies at the University of Ghana. His appointment, which was officially confirmed by Dr. Calistus Mahama, Executive Secretary to the President, signals a new chapter for the GSA under the new administration.
